Who we are

A century of coffee tradition

Culpan was born over a century ago, when Don Francisco Ocheita searched Guatemala for the perfect place to grow coffee. He found it on the slopes of the Santiaguito volcano, in Quetzaltenango: volcanic soil, natural shade and a high-altitude climate ideal for the bean.

Five generations later, that same pursuit of excellence guides every harvest. We care for the land, for our people and for the forest that surrounds us, true to Don Roberto Toledo's philosophy: patience makes the coffee.

From tree to cup

A process cared for at every step

From the nursery to the mill, every stage is done with patience. We hand-pick the best beans, raise them under shade for a year in our nursery and harvest them at their exact point of ripeness. Our wet mill, built in the 1940s and modernised to be ecological, completes a craft that honours our family tradition.
